Presented by the Mountain Heritage Festival Commitee
1st Place Price for Best Overall, Best Lit, and Best Themed Kayak!
Cost is $10 per Kayak
YOU MUST YOUR OWN KAYAK, PADDLE, AND LIFE JACKET
Decorate your Kayak to glow in the night for a chance to win a Prize package
Registration begins at 6:30pm
Kayak's go on the water at DUSK
FREE event for spectators, bring your own lawn chair or blanket

Mountain Heritage Photo Contest and Photo Display

Photos must be turned on September 19th and or September 20th between the hours of 4-6 PM. Deadline for entry is Thursday September 19 @ 6PM
Photographs will be on display in Whitesburg throughout the week of the festival, September 23-28. The photographs will be judged by Friday September 20, 2023

Adopt-A-Duck Race
Adopt Your Duck Race Will Be Held Saturday, September 28, 2023 5pm on the river bank.
Ducks are adoptable at the HOMES,Inc office, 65 Bentley Ave. Whitesburg, KY 8am-4pm through Wednesday September 25. Beginning Thursday September 26 ducks are adoptable at the HOMES, Inc. booth under the big tent. Ducks can be adopted up to one hour prior to the race. Ducks are being adopted to ensure that the area’s citizens are provided with quality, affordable housing solutions.
Prizes
1st Place $500 Cash Prize + a T-shirt
2nd Place $250 Cash Prize + a T-shirt
3rd Place $125 Cash Prize + a T-shirt
4th - 10th Place wins a T-shirt
"Unlucky" duck, last duck to cross the finish line wins $125 Cash Prize + a T-shirt
The Adopt-A-Duck race will be held Saturday September 28, 5:00 pm

Opening Ceremonies 10:00 AM in front of courthouse
Civil War Soldiers of the Ben E. Camp #1629 will fire the cannon to start the largest parade in Eastern Kentucky

Parade Units , floats, walking units and all other parade entries must complete an application in order to be judged in competition. Applications are available at Whitaker Bank and Community Trust Bank in Whitesburg
Due to Insurance Regulations:
Throwing objects into the crowd is prohibited. Indiviuals can walk and handout items.
No sirens or air horns allowed.
NEW EVENT: Outhouse Race during the MHF parade! Outhouses will be last in the parade and will stop in front of City Hall. The race will begin right after the parade so please stick around for this UNIQUE even. If you interested in getting more information about rules and regulations and specificatoons for your mobile outhouse, please contact Lee Adams (606)634-5698 or Medody Coots (606)634-8198 or you may contact Marty Holbrook at (606)821-5129. The Mountain Heritage Festival Committee would like to express our sincere appreciation to Whitesburg Mayor Craft, city council, city employees, fire, police, sanitation, water and street departments. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Letcher County Judge Executive Terry Adams and Magistrates, Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines, Letcher County Jailer Bert Slone and Luther Tackett as well as the Kentucky State Police. Without their involvement , this festival would not be the success that it is.
